Minutes for December 12, 2007 Selectmen’s Meeting

Members present:  Jean C. Harmon, Clifford L. Emery, Robert C. Libby, Daniel T. Collomy and Linda W. Pulsoni.

Others Present:  Keith Emery, Dave Harmon, Olive Collomy, Ed Newell and Peter Pinkham.

Business Meeting Agenda

1.      Call to Order.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

2.      Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.

Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes December 5, 2007.  Approved 5-0.


3.      Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.

None


4.      Review of Correspondence.

·       Email from Saco River Cable Committee – Re:  Cable TV Franchise Renewal
·       Flyer from Patrick A. Bonsant, Saco River Community Television – Re:  Monthly Update of Activities
·       Flyer from Maine Coalition to Save Schools – Re:  Raising Money to support the Repeal of the School Consolidation Law



5.      Review of Projects and Issues.

Selectman Collomy reported that he met with the architect at Deluca & Hoffman regarding the layout and plans for the new Town Garage.  There have been some minor changes in the plans.

Selectman Pulsoni welcomed Hannaford to the community.  The Grand Opening was last Friday night and well attended.

Selectman Harmon congratulated the Bonny Eagle Football team for winning the state championship.  Congratulations to the coaches, team members and the parents.

7.      New Business.
        
The Toy Box is moving into the Town Hall on Thursday.



8.      Executive Orders.

E.O.070812010 – An order to approve John Myer’s attendance to a Motor Vehicle Registration Training.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.070812011 – An order to approve Fred Farnham’s attendance to a Floodplain Management workshop.  Approved 5-0.


9.      Executive Orders by Initiative.

None



10.     Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

E.O.070812008 -- An order approving expenditures as documented in Accounts Payable Warrant #23-08.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.070812009 -- An order approving expenditures as documented in Payroll Warrant
#23-08.  Approved 5-0.


11.     Next Meeting of the Board.


Selectmen’s Meeting Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.

12.     Other Business.

Reminder the Town is accepting applications for the Rescue Subscription Program, which expires December 31, 2007.  If any one wants to renew their Subscription Agreement or apply to the program as a new member, applications are being accepted at the Town Office during normal business hours.

The Pythian Sisters will be opening their facility at Buxton Center on Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. to make food available.  The facility will not be open this Sunday, Dec 16.  Bread, pastries, potatoes and bananas will be available.  Questions can be directed to Joann Groder at 929-8806.

        Selectman Harmon attended the opening of Hannaford on Saturday morning and cut the ribbon.




13.     Public Comments and Questions.

Keith Emery asked the status of Maine State Retirement.

Ed Newell presented the Selectmen with a donation for Keep the Heat On from donations received at the Festival of Trees that was sponsored by the Buxton Garden Club at the Bar Mills Church last week.

Dianne Senechal reported that donations have increased to the Keep the Heat On fund as a result of the article in the Portland Press Herald a few weeks ago.  The Heat Committee is working with the Buxton/Hollis Lions and fundraisers will be coming up soon.  If any one knows of an elderly person who is struggling with heating fuel, please call the Town Office.
