Minutes for May 16, 2007 Selectmen’s Meeting

Business Meeting Agenda

1.      Call to Order.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.

2.      Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.

Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes May 9, 2007.  Approved 5-0.

3.      Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.

5:00 p.m. – Peter Hanf – discuss tax situation

4.      Review of Correspondence.

·       Letter from Donnell P. Carroll, Executive Director Southern Maine Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc. – Re:  Kimberly Field selected as Southern Maine BLS Provider of the Year for 2007

·       Notice of Intent to File – Notification from the Maine Department of Transportation that a traffic movement permit application has been filed for the development of a 4,000 sq ft convenience store with fueling positions which will include a Dunkin Donuts.  Proposed location is located at 222 Narragansett Trail (Route 202) just south of the intersection of Rtes 202 and 112.

5.      Review of Projects and Issues.

Selectman Harmon reported that the Weymouth Park concession stand burned on Sunday morning.  It is a total loss and was not insured.  There have been offers to rebuild and donations offered.

Selectman Libby and Collomy are working with a company from New Hampshire to put the granite curbing around the Korean War Memorial park area.

The Selectman thanked Mac McLaughlin for taking care of lowering the flag at the Monument.

Selectman Sanborn reported that the report of the Fire truck and Ambulance accident was released this week.  The cause was overdriving the Fire truck.

Selectman Sanborn offered condolences to the Weisee family for their loss.

7.      New Business.
        
Selectman Harmon reported that FEMA will be reimbursing the Town $3,500 for damage done during the Mother’s Day storm in May 2006.



8.      Executive Orders.

E.O.060705014 – An order to approve 56 hours of vacation time for Greg Heffernan to be “Carried Forward”.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.060705015 – An order to approve 35 hours of vacation time for Fred Farnham to be “Carried Forward”.  Approved 5-0.


9.      Executive Orders by Initiative.

None





10.     Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

11.     Next Meeting of the Board.

Selectmen’s Meeting Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.

12.     Other Business.

Selectman Harmon read the Secret Ballot Articles that will be discussed at a Public Hearing on May 30, 2007.

Selectman Sanborn stated that the Board of Selectmen has sent a letter to the York County District Attorney requesting the status of the Ethel Lewis case.

Selectman Emery stated that the Town Reports are available.


13.     Public Comments and Questions.

Keith Emery asked why the new School referendum vote was scheduled on a separate date from the voting in June.  He also asked if there was going to be a candidate’s night.  He also questioned the Fire Department’s hiring process for members.

The Selectmen responded that it was State Law that a school referendum vote could not be included on the same ballot as the budget.  The Selectmen also stated that at this time there was not going to be a candidate’s night as they needed a sponsor.
