Minutes for April 4, 2007 Selectmen’s Meeting

Others Present: Peter Burns, Dennis Santolucito and Larry Miller.

1. Call to Order.
The Meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
2. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.

6:30 p.m. – Larry Miller & Peter Burns – discuss Recreation Department Budget
4. Review of Correspondence.
· Notice from Hollis Planning Board – Announcing Site walk on Map 3, Lot 53 property owned by Maine Woodland Properties. (This parcel is proposed to be developed into a subdivision and is across the Saco River from Pleasant Point Park.)
· Letter from Ralph & Barbara Richards – Re: Enlarging the Swap Shop at the Transfer Station
5. Review of Projects and Issues.
Selectmen Harmon announced that the Town’s new website was up and running. The site can be viewed at www.buxton.me.us.
On Monday, April 2, 2007 there was a public hearing on the proposed elementary school. There was also a straw vote whether to proceed. The vote passed and the plan will proceed.

13. Public Comments and Questions.
Dennis Santolucito asked about the status of the Town Planner position. He was notified that was one of the issues that will be discussed on Monday night.
Dennis stated that he had viewed the new website and was very pleased with the result. He felt it was a valuable tool as residents could sign up to receive the latest updates.
Dennis also stated that the Republican Town Committee will be meeting at the Town Hall on Tuesday April 10 at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Peter Burns apologized that he misspoke last week regarding the Town’s share of the proposed new elementary school. He overstated Buxton’s share. In reality Buxton’s share is in proportion to the bond taken to upgrade the playgrounds at the schools.
Larry Miller spoke in favor of taking money from the Undesignated Surplus account to help fund the new Town Garage.
