Minutes for January 24, 2007 Selectmen’s Meeting

Members Present:  Daniel T. Collomy, Carol B. Sanborn, Robert C. Libby, Jean C. Harmon and Clifford L. Emery

Others Present:  Jack Hanna, Olive Collomy, Keith Emery, Peter Burns Carl Littlefield and Robert Shepard

Public Hearing – 7:00 p.m.

Renewal Application for Class A Liquor License for the Buxton Tavern
 
Chairman Collomy opened the Public Hearing at 7:10 p.m. by reading the Notice of Public Hearing.  Chairman Collomy asked for comments from the public.  There were no comments from the public or the Board of Selectmen.  The Public Hearing closed at 7:11 p.m.

Business Meeting Agenda

1.      Call to Order.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:11 p.m.

2.      Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.

Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes for January 17, 2007.  Approved 5-0.


3.      Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.

5:00 p.m. – Michael Robinson – would like to serve on the Saco River Corridor Commission

5:30 p.m. – Les Volland – discussed budget and studio issues

6:00 p.m. – Presentation Old Town Hall – presentation by ttl-architects on the condition and necessary repairs for the Old Town Hall


4.      Review of Correspondence.

·       Email from Representative Morean – Re:  Listing of Legislative Documents introduced in the Maine Legislature on Sex Offender laws


5.      Review of Projects and Issues.

Selectmen Harmon, Emery and Sanborn attended the School Board Meeting Monday night, January 22 at the Middle School.


The Selectmen held a Workshop on Tuesday night to discuss budget overruns, carry forward items and start the budget process.


6.      Old Business.

None

7.      New Business.
        
Selectman Harmon announced that Aubuchon Hardware will be holding a community day on January 27 and will be accepting donations to the food pantry.

Bar Mills Rescue will be holding a free CPR class on Saturday, January 27.  The class is full but more classes will be held.

Tru Choice Credit Union will be holding a family day on Saturday, January 27 from 10:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Credit Union building at the corner of Routes 22 and 202.

Selectman Emery reminded everyone that drivers must use extreme caution when following a snowplow.  If a vehicle is too close to the back of the truck, the driver will not see your vehicle.



8.      Executive Orders.

E.O.060701015 – An order to approve 16 hours of vacation time for Greg Heffernan.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.060701016 – An order to approve 56 hours of vacation time for Dianne Senechal.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.060701017 – An order to appoint Charlene Libby to the position of Board of Appeals member effective until December 31, 2010.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.060701018 – An order to appoint John R. Hanna, Jr. to the position of Board of Appeals Member effective until December 31, 2008.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.060701019 – An order to appoint Dennis R. Sweatt to the position of Board of Appeals Member effective until December 31, 2009.  Approved 5-0.

9.      Executive Orders by Initiative.

E.O.060701020 – An order to approve a liquor license renewal for the Buxton Tavern.

E.O.060701021 – An order to appoint Michael Robinson to the Saco River Corridor Committee effective until December 31, 2009.



10.     Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

E.O.060701013 -- An order approving expenditures as documented in Accounts Payable Warrant #30-07.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.060701014 -- An order approving expenditures as documented in Payroll Warrant
#30-07.  Approved 5-0.

11.     Next Meeting of the Board.

Selectmen’s Meeting Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.


12.     Other Business.

The Town is looking for an Editor for the Buxton News.  Responsibilities include:  compiling information from the Town Office and town residents, organizing the information in an electronic format, submitting for approval and overseeing the printing and bulk mailing.  If you are interested in becoming involved with the Town, this is a great opportunity.  Please call the Town Office if you are interested in volunteering or need more information.

There was a discussion regarding paying the Editor of the Buxton News.  

13.     Public Comments and Questions.

Peter Burns stated that he felt the Editor of the Buxton News should be a paid position.

Dianne Senechal reminded residents that the Food Pantry is requesting every user to obtain a pass to use the facility.  The new pass system will begin implementation on February 2, 2007.

14.     Adjournment.
