Minutes for January 17, 2007 Selectmen’s Meeting

Business Meeting Agenda
1. Call to Order.
The Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.
2. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.
Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes for January 10, 2007. Approved 5-0.
3. Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.
5:30 p.m. – Keith Emery & Jeannette Fernstrom – update on Buxton residents serving in the military
6:00 p.m. – Brent Hill – discuss Old Town Hall
Residents from Vail Road discussed the plowing/sanding of their road
4. Review of Correspondence.
· Email from Risa Dennison – Re: Zoning Ordinance for registered sex offenders
· Email from Michael Edgecomb, Saco River Cable Committee – Re: Fair Point taking over Verizon’s land line operations in Maine
5. Review of Projects and Issues.
Selectman Harmon stated that Budgets are being worked on. A Special Town Meeting needs to be set up soon. Prior to the Special Town Meeting the Selectmen need to have a Workshop to prepare for the Meeting. A tentative Workshop has been set for Tuesday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m.
Work continues on the text for the Town’s new website.

7. New Business.
Selectman Harmon reported that on February 25 there is a get together scheduled at the Town Hall for the families, relative and friends of those serving in the military from Buxton. The event is scheduled from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and is open to everyone to provide support for the families and help each other if needed.
Selectman Harmon noted that the True Choice Credit Union is open for business from 8:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Selectman Sanborn reported that she had received a quote from Dave Hall for painting and she would like to go ahead with that if the other Board members were in favor.
Selectman Libby reported that the Elwell Abatement appeal was held on 1/17/07. There will be no change in the taxes – current assessment will stay.
Selectman Collomy reported that the new shelving units are being installed in the vault.
8. Executive Orders.
E.O.060701012 – An order to approve an Application for Exemption from Local Taxation for a Veteran [Map 10, Lot 28-2]. Approved 5-0.

10. Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

11. Next Meeting of the Board.
Planning Board Meeting Monday, January 22, 2007 at 7:30 p.m.
Selectmen’s Meeting Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
12. Other Business.
The Town is looking for an Editor for the Buxton News. Responsibilities include: compiling information from the Town Office and town residents, organizing the information in an electronic format, submitting for approval and overseeing the printing and bulk mailing. If you are interested in becoming involved with the Town, this is a great opportunity. Please call the Town Office if you are interested in volunteering or need more information.
13. Public Comments and Questions.
Keith Emery reported that Hannaford will be breaking ground very soon. The new Hannaford will be open this fall for business.
