Minutes for January 10, 2007 Selectmen’s Meeting

Business Meeting Agenda
1. Call to Order.
The Meeting was called to order at 6:59 p.m.
2. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.
Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes for January 3, 2007. Approved 4-0-1.
3. Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m. – Chief Thomas – introduce a new Dispatcher
4. Review of Correspondence.
· Letter from Maine Energy Recovery – Re: Adjustment to the tipping fee for each calendar year
· Memorandum from John Sylvester, Eleven Town Group – Re: Regular monthly meeting scheduled January 15, 2007
· Email from Joyce Kelley, York County Emergency Management – Re: January 2007 Happenings
5. Review of Projects and Issues.
Selectmen Harmon stated that the Selectmen had interviewed candidates for the Custodian position. An offer has been made. Waiting to hear back from the applicant.
Selectman Harmon reported that the budget process has begun.
Selectman Harmon reported that Aubuchon Hardware will be spearheading a food drive on January 27 for the Food cupboard.
Selectman Libby reported that the Dorcus Society also called and offered assistance with any programs.
Selectman Collomy reported that he met with the engineer at the Old Town Hall yesterday. A structural analysis and costs of repairing the Old Town Hall will be presented to the Selectmen.
Selectman Harmon reported that there is a light out at the Salt Shed and some carpentry work needs to be done and the light replaced.
Selectman Sanborn stated that she is gathering information to get a quote on oil/diesel fuel from Dodge Oil.
Selectman Sanborn is also reviewing the Town Buildings to see if any repairs need to be done.

8. Executive Orders.
E.O.060701007 – An order to appoint Joan M. Weeman to the position of Registrar of Voters effective until December 31, 2008. Approved 5-0.
E.O.060701008 – An order to appoint Jessica MacDonald to the position of Dispatcher effective January 10, 2007 at a pay rate of $13.79. Approved 5-0.
E.O.060701009 – An order to enter into a 12-month Agreement with the Animal Refuge League of Westbrook effective January 1, 2007. Approved 5-0.

12. Other Business.
The Town is looking for an Editor for the Buxton News. Responsibilities include: compiling information from the Town Office and town residents, organizing the information in an electronic format, submitting for approval and overseeing the printing and bulk mailing. If you are interested in becoming involved with the Town, this is a great opportunity. Call The Town Office if you are interested in volunteering or need more information.
Selectman Harmon stated that a Special Town Meeting needs to be set up to handle overruns of the Budget. The Selectmen will hold a Workshop to discuss the issue.
13. Public Comments and Questions.
Keith Emery reported that one member of the military that was one leave from Iraq received flowers as a thank you and support for their effort.
