Special Meeting
April 9, 2008

A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Briarcliff Manor, New York was held in the Village of Briarcliff Manor Village Hall, at 1111 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor, New York of the 9th of April 2008 commencing at 7:30 p.m.

Public Hearing, Tentative Budget FY 2008-2009
Upon motion by Deputy Mayor Venditti, seconded by Trustee Smith the Board voted unanimously to open the public hearing.
Village Manager Blau reviewed the tentative budget for fiscal year 2008-2009 for the Board and the Public.
Mayor Vescio stated large tax certioraris would increase expenditures by 4.25% by themselves.
Trustee Smith stated the Board would look at ways to generate more revenue to lessen the tax increase.
Mayor Vescio stated the schools would have the same issues with the tax certioraris. He further stated the Board was obligated to close the public hearing by April 20th and to approve the budget by April 30th. He stated the Board would continue to have discussion but certain circumstances were out of their control, such as the tax certioraris and contractual agreements with unions.
Deputy Mayor Venditti stated the Village had a small commercial tax base so the burden falls on the residents.
Mayor Vescio asked staff to combine budget lines for a broader view as opposed to seeing each department line by line.
Adjournment
Upon motion by Trustee Mayer, seconded by Trustee Waxenberg, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn the public hearing to April 17, 2008.
