Board of Selectmen Minutes 11/07/2014
Date of Meeting:        Friday, November 7, 2014
Location:               Town Hall, 221 Main Street
Time:                   10:30 AM – 10:37 AM
Members Present:        Chairman James Wood; James Underwood; Martin McNamara, Town Administrator; Lori Esposito, Administrative Assistant
Absent:                 Michael May

The meeting was called to order at 10:30 AM.

Town Accountant Position:
  • Borgatti & Harrison, currently employed as the Town Accountant firm, will no longer function in that capacity.   The Board is considering the hire of Jason Little of Uxbridge, Town Accountant in Northborough.   He was previously the Financial Manager at Algonquin Regional.   He is familiar with Budget Sense.
  • Jason would plan to work Monday evenings and Friday afternoons.
  • Jim Wood said he spoke with Cheri Cox at length about it and she gave him a very high recommendation.
  • Marty McNamara said he cleared it with the Northborough Town Administrator and he is ready to commit to the job on a long-term basis.
  • He would receive the same hourly rate we were paying Scanlon & Associates.   A significant amount of hours is for data entry.   The Board would plan to add three to four hours a week to the Assistant Treasurer/Collector’s hours to do data entry to free up the Accountant’s time.
Jamie Underwood made a motion to appoint Jason Little Town Accountant effective November 10, 2014.  Jim Wood seconded the motion; voted all in favor.

Library Move to Food Pantry Area:
  • The Library Trustees are asking the Board to commit to them moving in in the future.   This move is at least a year away and they are looking into alternatives for the food pantry relocation.
  • Jamie Underwood asked if it could wait until the Selectmen’s next meeting as he would like to resolve any food pantry relocation first.
Ron Rajotte Proclamation:   The Selectmen requested a Proclamation be drawn up for Ron Rajotte’s retirement party on the 14th.

Monday, November 10, 2014:

Most Town Hall employees are taking a vacation day on Monday with only three employees in the building during the day.   The Town Administrator raised the possibility of not holding Monday evening hours.  Both Jim and Jamie were okay with it.

At 10:37 AM Jamie Underwood made a motion, seconded by Jim Wood, to adjourn.   Voted all in favor.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:37 AM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Lori Esposito, Administrative Assistant
