Financial Warrants signed in approval.
Habitat Request to use Hillside for a Concert on July 17th – approved unanimously.
Lions Request to use the Football Field for the August 6th Chicken BBQ - approved unanimously.
Appointment of Lyle Foley as a Library Trustee: Jim Stanton explained that this appointment would be made jointly by the Board of Selectmen and the Library Board of Trustees. He asked Ms. Foley to introduce herself and describe her interest in the position. She said she was interested in preserving the Library as a historic structure, as she and her husband had completed 2-3 house restorations. Ken Sydow noted that she also has a real estate background. Ms. Foley stated she had worked for 15 years in commercial real estate for Staples. A motion to appoint was made by Rich Reardon and seconded by Sue Terrieault. A roll call vote was taken with all voting yes.
Appointment of the Municipal Light Board as Special Municipal Employees; Appointment of Wiring & Asst. Wiring Inspectors – The Board reviewed Town Counsel’s advice re: appointment of a member of the Light Board as Assistant Wiring Inspector. Upon a motion by Ken Sydow, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor of naming the Light Board as Special Municipal Employees. Upon a motion by Ken Sydow, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor of appointing Tom O’Connor as Wiring Inspector and John McQuade as Assistant Wiring Inspector.
PD/School Administration Window Replacements – Upon a motion by Ken Sydow, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor of awarding this contract to low bidder A.J. Wood Construction, at a price of $835/window. Upon a motion by Ken Sydow, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor of authorizing the chairman to enter into a contract for this work not to exceed $16,000, and to schedule the work to be completed prior to the start of school.
Route 140 Line Painting – Upon a motion by Ken Sydow, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor of awarding this contract to low bidder HiWay Safety Systems for line painting at a cost of $9,431.09. A contract for this work was executed.
Mile Hill Road Cell Tower Proposals – Upon a motion by Ken Sydow, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor of awarding this contract to US Wireless Inc for $25,800 for the first year’s rent, subject to the successful negotiation of a lease agreement. Selectman Stanton noted that the lease should include a cancellation provision should they not begin construction within a certain time frame.
Assistant Building Inspector Appointment – Upon a motion by Ken Sydow, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor of appointing Ray Renzoni as Assistant Building Inspector
Veterans Services Annual Report – The Board received an annual report from Vincent Perrone, Veteran’s Services Officer. Ken Sydow noted that he has heard favorable things about the services being provided to our veterans. Selectman Stanton echoed this, but noted that flag markers on grave sites should be put out at least a week prior to Memorial Day next year.
Dog Hearing Continuation – Chairman Stanton opened the continued hearing and asked Dog Officer Steve Golas whether the dog owner was in compliance with the conditions the Board imposed at the last hearing. Mr. Golas replied he was pleased with their progress, and that the dog has been neutered, has completed obedience training, and has been restrained as requested, and has been kept in the back yard. He had not received any additional complaints. Chairman Stanton asked if he recommended that the Board continue all the conditions – he replied “yes.” Stanton noted that neither the owner nor anyone from the neighborhood was present. Ken Sydow moved that conditions #1, 2, and 5 remain in place, seconded by Jim Stanton, all voted in favor. Stanton noted that the owner can petition for
modification of these conditions if circumstances change.
Town Administrator’s Report – Nancy Colbert Puff gave her report which is attached.
At 7:40 pm Selectman Sydow moved to adjourn. Jim Stanton seconded and all voted in favor.
