Selectmen’s Special Meeting
Called to Order: 6:34PM
Board of Selectmen present: Chairman James B. Stanton, Roger W. Deal and Kenneth G.Sydow
Others present: Town Administrator, Suzanne Olsen
For Discussion/Decision:
1.Vote to approve the over ride questions
After brief discussion, Mr. Sydow moved that the board approve the ballot questions under Article 41, numbers 1 and 2 regarding the school committee’s requests for Proposition 2-1/2 over rides (1 each) for both the Elementary and Regional Schools. The motion was seconded by Mr. Deal. The vote of approval was unanimous.
2. The Board reviewed the proposed warrant for both the Special and Annual meetings to be held on May 7 noting some minor changes to be made plus an added article:
a.Request to delete General by-law clean-up re: prohibiting self pumping gas stations.
3. Review and approved the proposed budget subject to minor changes in:
a.Insurance & Unemployment Lines
b. Council on Aging Coordinator salary increase from $11,419 to $13,500 which is a 10% increase, reduced from the requested $14,200 at 20% increase.
4. Calculation for Tax Impact printed from FinCom FY08 report: The Board was unfamiliar with the report and it will go back to fincom for updating if needed.
5. Other questions that came before the meeting:
a. Regional Assessment Any follow-up on Regional Assessment and having the new lower amount invoiced for 5/1 and getting the refund on the last assessment back now?
The Board moved that the Town will pay the 5/1/07 regional assessment at the new lower assessed rate and less the overpayment made on 3/1/07 if our 3/1 refund has not been received by 5/1 payment due date.
b.Police Union Contract: Mr. Stanton requested that the information be faxed to his office for review.
c. Mr. Deal wants to review the budgets for Selectmen’s general expense and MOB for increases in excess of 3%.
d.Mr. Deal will review Council on Aging Coordinator’s job description and complete a rating
