GENERAL BUSINESS
Farooq Ansari – Longley Hill (Permit Fine) – Mr. Ansari apologized for not pulling construction permits for lots 8 & 10 before starting the systems. He said it was an oversight and the first time it had happened. He is asking and would appreciate the board waiving the fine. The board discussed and agreed to waive the fine.
Jason Bradford said the Fire Department received a hearing impaired grant for smoke detection devices. He asked the board to partner with them. Previously they worked with the Council on Aging and installed 205 smoke detectors. This program is not specific to the elderly. The devices are very expensive. Mr. Bradford showed the board some samples (a bed shaker alarm and a wall mounted alarm). Four bed shaker alarms have already been installed. He is asking for the board’s help in identifying hearing impaired residents. Drawbacks are that a home must be identified first (the Fire Department cannot stockpile the devices), and the time frame is only one month. Sarah will prepare one flyer to be mass distributed to the schools, library, and churches. It will be
put on the website and in the Banner. She will email the draft tomorrow to Jason, Joe, board members, and will distribute once approved.
Dennis asked Nancy Velleco (WBACC camera person) if it was possible after the taping of a board meeting, to put in a different tape to be used to do a two minute segment on various topics rather than trying to coordinate a later date to do this. She said to contact Brittany Blaney.
Vouchers were approved.
Tina Shenko made a motion to approve the Meeting Minutes dated October 21, 2013; Sarah Scheinfein seconded; motion approved.
Sarah made a motion not to hold a December meeting; Tina seconded; motion approved. In the event a meeting is necessary, it will be held on December 16th.
Positive Email received regarding Melanie – The Town Administrator received an email from a soon-to-be resident expressing their appreciation for the helpfulness of Melanie and Nina (Building Department). An email was also received from a resident thanking both Melanie and Dennis for their help with a septic system.
Open Meeting Laws – Tabled to January.
Goody Bags – Sarah asked for input as to whether they should be distributed now or in the spring. Dennis feels they should be mailed to selected residences which would result in better feedback rather than leaving them outside the Town Clerk’s office, etc. Depending on January agenda items, meeting time will be used as a working meeting to determine the distribution.
