AGENT’S REPORT
Regionalization – Dennis said most meetings are well attended by the towns who may participate. August 1st is the deadline for a survey that needs to be completed relating to office procedures. The next step will be to create a model of a regional health department. Cost cannot be determined until the model is made. The goal is to streamline and offer the general public more in preventative health care. John asked if we would lose control as a Board of Health. Dennis said that it is unknown at this time. The board can look at the model and not join. Dennis also said there are meetings coming up in the next week. He will email the members with the dates and times. He will try to find out what is on the agenda. Right now he is not sure
what they will be discussing. There is a grant proposal which needs to be completed by November. By the first of the year, it will be awarded. He will follow-up for next month.
Dennis spoke with the accountant about encumbering the funds to construct a room downstairs for the emergency preparedness equipment. He was told he could not encumber the funds since there are no receipts or bills dated for fiscal year 2011. He said we could petition the Board of Selectmen to have them reallocate the funds back to the board. Sarah agreed it was a good idea.
The state is changing the way they allocate the flu vaccine this year. Originally we would have received one-half of what we received last year. The younger population is being targeted this year. We may have to purchase shots for seniors. How the clinics will be run is still not known. Dennis said that if we purchase the shots at a cost of approximately $12, the state will allow $14-$18 for administrative services and vaccine. He will have more information for the next meeting.
Dennis needs to purchase an ipad by the end of the week. He has contacted the Police Chief and Verizon and is trying to purchase a two-year prepaid plan.
