AGENT’S REPORT

Dennis briefly discussed compost toilets regarding the Linden Street Wildlife Sanctuary project.  He found that some are allowed in Massachusetts.  He also said a gray water system would be needed.  No plans have been received yet.

Regionalization is ongoing.  Dennis said that ultimately they want a stand alone operation to include a specific number of towns.  As part of the grant process, it will be required that all boards of health become part of MAVEN (Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiologic Network), which is real time reporting of communicable and reportable diseases.  The state will pay for the program.  He believes the VNA is currently on the system.

Dennis told the board he will be ordering an ipad for himself and the VNA nurse which can be used with MAVEN and also used for restaurant inspections, etc.

Dennis said the state will be paying the data package portion of his cell phone for two years with the town paying the remainder.

Dennis was told that the board can utilize a room downstairs for the emergency preparedness equipment.  It will need to be sectioned off at a cost of approximately $1,200-$1,500.  There are funds in the Special Project account to do this.  The Board agreed it is a good idea to have a dedicated room for all the equipment to be in one place.  Dennis will encumber the funds and get an estimate from Ken Goodwin (Maintenance Department).

Dennis informed the board that a spokesperson for the National Children’s Study may attend a meeting during the summer.  She will be looking for input from boards of health to recruit 250 pregnant women to follow for 21 years.

72 Nicholas Avenue (Clark) – Approved.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
