AGENT’S REPORT

Flu Clinics – There was ample supply of vaccine this year.  The board will not be holding any more clinics this season.  The state is in the process of taking inventory to find the total number of vaccines that was administered.

Regionalization – The town is considering entering into a Public Health District Incentive Grant Program with the Department of Public Health.  They are exploring different options, such as sharing services, regionalizing districts or creating stand alone districts.  Boylston could be grouped with Worcester, Shrewsbury, Leicester, Auburn, Northborough, Grafton and/or Holden.  It is unknown how different town regulations would work.  It could alter local Board of Health day-to-day functions.  Larger towns could comply with the 10 essential services that CDC is looking to implement, whereas small towns can only provide a portion of the services.  More research is needed to find out what the benefits would be to the town, what we would be losing on the local level, and what the residents will need to do.  At this time, there are more questions than answers.  Dennis will provide the contact information and a letter will be written endorsing the program as required by the grant.  He will continue to follow-up and provide more information at the next meeting.
