Public Ways Safety Committee
Bolton, Massachusetts
July 13, 2011

Members Present:  Peter Ross (Chair), Tom Kittler, Leslie Breeze, Mary Ciummo, Rob Hagopian.
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.  The minutes for June 22, 2011 were approved and accepted.
Line of Sight Bylaw:
  • Peter and Mary brought the committee up to date about their meeting with the Town Administrator on June 23rd.  A discussion ensued about whether to exclude brush from the bylaw.  
  • The committee is undecided about putting the bylaw on the warrant for a possible special town meeting in November or waiting until May.  We will evaluate this as we get closer to the fall.
  • Peter will contact Linda Day about inviting the Board of Selectmen to one of our meetings.
Master List of Intersections:  
  • Sugar Road from Corn to East End:  Not all committee members were able to visit the site; deferred to next meeting.
  • Leslie spoke with Shelley at DPW about brush clearing throughout town.
Crosswalk Painting:  Rob informed the committee about new federal standards for paint that is just coming out in MUTCD.  
Mobility Study:
  • Peter has contacted the Town Planner about meeting with us; she will be unavailable in August.  Peter will contact her to meet with us on September 14 or the 28th.
  • Mary informed the committee about a conversation she had with Stow’s Planning Coordinator about their sidewalk project.  She will e-mail our Town Planner with this information.
Filling Vacant Positions:
  • Peter will follow up with Sean Collins about his interest in the committee.
  • Peter will write up a draft for an article about our committee and Mary will contact the Main Street neighborhood and Bolton Center Blog for permission to circulate the article.
Other Business:  The committee voted unanimously to cc our minutes to the Police Dept. and DPW and to any other appropriate group or individuals.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
