Public Ways Safety Committee Minutes 04-13-11
Minutes
Public Ways Safety Committee
Bolton, Massachusetts
April 13, 2011

Members present: Mary Ciummo, Deborah Kellett, Tom Kittler, Peter Ross

Minutes from the March 23, 2011 meeting were approved.

OLD BUSINESS:

Line of Sight Bylaw (9.1) Public Hearing:

After a brief review of planned presentation, members adjourned to join Planning Board in the Public Hearing for the proposed Line of Sight Bylaw. Since the entire proposal had already been reviewed at length at what turned out to be a non-binding public hearing on March 16, only those proposed amendments were reviewed at this meeting.

Two proposed amendments were discussed. First, a proposal to change an error in numbering of one paragraph as it appears on the printed warrant; changing 2.4.3.1.1.1 on the printed warrant to the original numbering of 2.4.3.1.2. Secondly was the addition of three words to existing paragraph 2.4.3.5, to include the entire phrase “living tree trunks” as a specific exclusion, and inserting the adjective “existing” to modify “stone walls.”

Doug Storey of Planning suggested that we consider presenting the amendments first, then assuming approval of the amendments, proceed to the article itself.

After a brief discussion, Planning Board voted on both the article as it now exists in the Warrant as well as the article as amended. Vote was 2 ayes, 1 nay, 1 abstain.

Traffic Light Timing at Sugar and 117: It was noted that an article in the Common cited Don Lowe commenting that Mass Highway had responded to his inquiry about this issue. They declined to take any action at this time.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
The next meeting is scheduled for 7:00 on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
