Minutes, March 1 2011
Bolton Public Library
Board of Trustees
Meeting March 1, 6:00 p.m.
Program Room

Present: Bob Zak, Roland Ochsenbein, Chris Sterling
Also present: Kelly Collins

Agenda Items:

Minutes:
The February 8th minutes were approved.

Director’s Report:
Circulation for the FY to date is 48,174. The people counter battery needs to be replaced, so there was no attendance count for the month. Kelly suggested lowering the maximum people considered capacity for the Program Room because of  parking limitations. The trustees decided to keep it at the current 65.
The propane tank needs to be raised to prevent problems in the winter with filling it. The boiler went out, Harold Brown was able to refire it. Kelly has contacted Burnell Controls and Amanti about this problem but has not heard back from them.
There is a problem with the parking lot lights. The photocell that can automatically control them is located too close to the ground, and does not function when covered with snow. This will need to be addressed in the spring.
A project wrap-up meeting was held with Bob White, Con Lowe, the Trustees, Pam Czekanski (by phone) on 2/16.

Program Room Security Options:
Kelly provided quotes from three companies to provide increased access to the Program Room. It was agreed that American Alarm provided the best solution at the best price. Kelly will first obtain references and check them before placing the order.

Budget:
Bob will prepare a presentation to Advisory Committee showing the value of our proposed budget. Kelly asked Bob to find out when the town budget is finalized. We do not want any surprises at Town Meeting. The Trustees will meet with Advisory Committee on March 8th at 7:30.

LCC:
The Trustees need to meet with the Board of Selectmen to discuss dissolving the LCC. It was suggested that we request a slot on the BoS agenda for Thursday March 10th.

Caucus:
Town Caucus is Monday, March 14. Roland will not be running for re-election, so a new Trustee candidate needs to be nominated.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 5th at 6 p.m. at the library.

Respectfully submitted, the Trustees,

Robert Zak                      Roland Ochsenbein                       Christine Sterling
