Town Hall                                               Stanley Wysocki
                                                        Gwendolen Rogers

                                                        Don Lowe, Town Administrator
                                                        Linda L. Day, Town Secretary

Chairman Delaney called the Law Committee meeting to order at 6:45 p.m.  He announced that Kenneth Troup was unable to physically attend the meeting because of geographic distance reasons and would be participating remotely.

Appointment of Town and Labor Counsel:  Mr. Lowe reported that it is an annual event that the Board of Selectmen appoints or re-appoints Town Counsel and Labor Counsel.  Mr. Lowe stated that the Town has been well served by Town Counsel Brackett and Lucas and Labor Counsel Mirick O’Connell but it is good business practice to rebid the services periodically.  Mr. Lowe recommended that both the existing Town and Labor Counsel be re-appointed through the end of the calendar year and suggested the Law Committee task him with going out to bid for the legal services for the new year.

Ms. Rogers suggested that the Selectmen consider one law firm to handle both legal and labor issues.  Mr. Lowe agreed to draft the RFP in a way such that any firm is free to submit a quote on one or both services.

On a motion made by Sprague and seconded by Wysocki, the Law Committee voted 5-0 to solicit requests for proposal to select new town and labor counsel with the selection being completed by the end of November and in the meantime appoint the two existing firms through the end of the calendar year.  (Sprague – yes, Delaney – yes, Wysocki – yes, Rogers – yes, Troup – yes)

Respectfully submitted by Linda L. Day
