Advisory Committee Minutes 09-26-13
Advisory Committee                              Present:        Terry Abdalian
September 26, 2013                                              Randy Dinjian
Brad Cote
Mike Zelenkov

The Advisory Committee met at the Town Hall at 7:00 p.m.

Present:  Karen Regan, Chairman and Tom Wildman, member of the Parks/Recreation Commission

On a motion made by Dinjian and seconded by Cote, the Advisory Committee voted to approve the transfer request in the amount of $2,069.73 to the Recreation 630 Wages account.  (Abdalian – yes, Dinjian – yes, Cote – yes, Zelenkov – yes)

In prior years the lead lifeguard and swim instructor were both paid from Purchase of Services. When the budget was done for fiscal 2013, it was not known that Linda Herbison would assume both roles. The Parks and Recreation Commission thought they would hire the same service they used in 2012 for both positions. 2013 is only the second year that there has been a lead life guard position requiring additional compensation.~

Mr. Wildman anticipates that there will need to be a year-end transfer of approximately $1,000 to pay for June 2013 lifeguards.

For fiscal 2015 budget, it is expected that Ms. Herbison will be again be the lead life guard and swim instructor. Knowing this information now will make budgeting more exact for the upcoming fiscal year. The Advisory Committee agreed that the Parks and Recreation Commission should be scheduled later in the budget season (March time frame) to review their budgets.  This will allow them to have a better handle on the number of swim sessions, making for a better budget.

On a motion made by Cote and seconded by Dinjian, the Advisory Committee voted to adjourn at 7:19 p.m.  (Abdalian – yes, Dinjian – yes, Cote – yes, Zelenkov – yes)

Respectfully submitted by Terry Abdalian
