The Advisory Committee met at the Town Hall at 7:30 p.m.
ENERGY COMMITTEE – SUMMARY OF STRETCH ENERGY CODE
Mr. Malmerg, Mr. Shnitzler, and Paul Vasington met with the Advisory Committee to provide a summary of the Stretch Energy Code that is being proposed for adoption at the Annual Town Meeting on May 2, 2011.
The Advisory Committee stated that they did not understand the need to adopt the Code when the Commonwealth will be incorporating the code into the building code in FY13. They also understood that it would impact the growth in town and expressed concern with the additional costs of approximately $5,000 to $10,000 to the purchaser. Another concern was that the grant funds would be exhausted by the towns that have already adopted the Code.
REVIEW OF TOWN MEETING PRESENTATION
Mr. Czekanski will make revisions as recommended by the Committee and forward the final presentation to Ms. Day for distribution to the Committee.
TRANSFER REQUESTS
On motion made by Czekanski and seconded by Benjamin, the Advisory Committee voted to approve a transfer request in the amount of $12,462.00 for the insurance premium for town property. (Dinjian – yes, Czekanski – yes, Benjamin – yes, Abdalian – yes, Zelenkov – yes) This premium is a higher than anticipated due to the new Public Safety Center and Library buildings.
SNOW AND ICE
On a motion made by Czekanski and seconded by Benjamin, the Advisory Committee voted to approve spending in the amount of $20,000 for the snow and ice deficit. (Dinjian – yes, Czekanski – yes, Benjamin – yes, Abdalian – yes, Zelenkov – yes) As of April 17, 2011, $317,824.62 has been spent from the snow and ice budget.
