The Advisory Committee met at the Town Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Roland Ochsenbein, Chairman of the Library Building Committee, presented Mr. Shnitzler a plaque honoring his work as Advisory Committee liaison to the Library Building Committee. The award to Mr. Shnitzler was applauded by the other Committee members.
The Committee received a written request from Kelly Collins, Library Director, for a transfer from the Committee's reserve fund of $150 to the Library's books line item. The purpose of the transfer was to make the Library whole for a $150 contribution for the purchase of books, which had been deposited, as required, into the town's general fund. On a motion by Mr. Dinjian, seconded by Mr. Shnitzler, the Committee voted unanimously to make the requested transfer.
Mr. Shnitzler reviewed with the Committee a draft of the presentation he will make on behalf of the Committee to Town Meeting on May 3. He noted that one of the presentation slides could not be completed until he received additional information from the assessors. Other members of the Committee suggested changes to the presentation, most of which Mr. Shnitzler accepted. Of special note, the Committee reached a consensus to project a longer-term (approximately five years) growth rate for both school and town spending of 3%. It was agreed that the Committee would continue its review of Mr. Shnitzler's updated presentation at its next meeting, currently scheduled for April 27, 2010.
The Committee reviewed the articles to be voted on at Town Meeting and assigned specific members to be responsible for discussing the Committee's recommendations in response to any questions asked at Town Meeting. The following assignments were made:
