Advisory Committee Minutes 6-3-08
Advisory Committee
June 3, 2008

Present:  David Lindsay
Burt Shnitzler
Randy Dinjian
Graham Slieker

The meeting convened at approximately 7:30 pm.

Mr. Lindsay discussed the Appointing Committee process.  He noted that his term was expiring on June 30 and that to continue as a member of the Advisory Committee, he would need to be reappointed by the Appointing Committee.  The Appointing Committee consists of the Town Moderator (Jim Anker), the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen (Curt Plante) and the Town Clerk (Pamela Powell).  In addition, because 3 members of the Advisory Committee are interim appointees (Messrs. Czekanski, Dinjian, and Slieker), they will needed to be reappointed by the Appointing Committee if they are to continue on the Advisory Committee.  Only Mr. Shnitzler, whose term expires next year, will remain on the Advisory Committee without a vote by the Appointing Committee.  There is one Advisory Committee vacancy (Mr. Wysocki, who was recently elected to the Board of Selectmen) which the Appointing Committee will fill.

The Advisory Committee received a request from the Fire Department Chief, John Stephenson, for permission to sell a 1971 International Loadstar tanker and a 1969 Jeep 1-ton bush truck.  On a motion by Mr. Shnitzler, seconded by Mr. Slieker, the Committee voted unanimously to give permission for the sale of these vehicles by the Fire Department.

The Committee also received a request for a transfer of $800 from its Reserve Fund to line item 161-578 (Town Clerk – Meetings).  This was to cover the costs of the Town Clerk’s attendance at a conference, which had not been budgeted for.  The Conference appeared to be useful in helping the Town Clerk perform her job effectively.  On a motion by Shnitzler, seconded by Slieker, the transfer was approved unanimously.
The Committee reviewed minutes from several earlier meetings.  A moderate number of changes were made to the draft minutes for some of these meetings.

At approximately 9:05, on a motion by Mr. Shnitzler, seconded by Mr. Dinjian, the Committee voted unanimously to adjourn.
