A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Lynn Moore, Louise Valliere, Scott Losier, Denise Valerino, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Kevin Carpenter, Julie King, and a member of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the July 5, 2016 meeting public session. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANT On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated, July 16, 2016 for the amount of $213,518.42. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
COMMENTS None
HEAD START The Superintendent reviewed the progress of meetings with representatives from the Head Start Program regarding having their students housed at Brown School The next meeting is scheduled for August 18, 2016. On a motion by Louise Valliere seconded by Scott Losier the Board voted to approve going forward with a partnership with Head Start. Louise Valliere, Scott Losier, and Lynn Moore voted in the affirmative, with Denise Valerino voting in the negative. The motion passed by a 3 to 1 margin.
MEAL RATES On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the following hot lunch prices for the 2016-2017 school year:
Breakfast $1.75
Lunch 1-5 $2.75
Lunch 6-12 $3.00
Lunch Adult $3.50
Breakfast Adult $2.00
Milk $0.50
On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the two meetings that were held with the AREA Withdrawal Committee.
The Superintendent presented the Annual Report.
COMMENTS None
MEMBER COMMENTS On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Scott Losier the Board voted to approve the Superintendent’s annual report. The motion passed unanimously.
STAFFING On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:
Resignation:
Rachael Imperial – Educational Assistant – Brown School
Nomination:
Louise Morneau – Pre-School Coordinator - District
The motion passed unanimously.
All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a background check.
ADJOURN On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 6:34 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
