A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Denise Valerino, Scott Losier, Louise Valliere, Lynn Moore, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Dan Record, Kevin Carpenter, Tim Forestall, Martha Miller, Roland & Cheryl Pinette, Robert Thompson and a member of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the May 19, 2016 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANT On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated, June 6, 2016 for the amount of $136,719.51. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.
COMMENTS None
MEMBER BUSINESS Louise Valliere raised the issue of the high number of students we have coming to school not properly fed or dressed. She asked if the Board should raise this issue with the City Council. Nicole Plourde suggested that the schools may want to apply to become a member of the NH Food Bank. This agency would provide food at better pricing for distribution to students.
Denise Valerino stated that she did not receive a phone call during the recent bomb threat. She also recommended that the instructions for news alerts in the parent manual be updated.
Nicole Plourde spoke of a Milan parent being appreciative of the Berlin Middle School allowing the Milan students to attend a social event as part of the transition process from Milan to Berlin.
Nicole mentioned that the CTE Open House was nicely presented.
Nicole also suggested doing something special for the seniors to deter skip day.
NON-PUBLIC On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:20 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:22 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:
TEACHER NOMINATIONS:
Lana Gilcris – Grade 5 Teacher - Hillside
RE-NOMINATIONS:
Craig Melanson – BHS Athletic Director
The motion passed unanimously.
All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a background check.
BESS Tentative On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to approve the BESS Tentative Agreement. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
BEA Tentative On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the BEA Tentative Agreement. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
ADJOURN On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:29 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.

NONPUBLIC SESSIONS
June 2, 2016
On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:20 pm in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), and (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
The Board reviewed staffing.
Kevin Carpenter made a presentation to the Board regarding his wage schedule. No further action was taken.
On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:22 pm in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), and (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
