A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Scott Losier, Lynn Moore, Louise Valliere, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Dan Record, Kevin Carpenter, Julie King, Martha Miller, Autie Hamilton, Susanne Smith, Estelle Lamontagne, Anthony Valliere, Patrick Brown, Sonya Bergeron, Leah Dion, Michael Smith, Guy Stever, Amy Welch, David Griffin, parents, students , and a member of the press.
DESTINATION IMAG Five teams from the District competed in a regional competition on April 2, 2016. A couple of the teams presented their skit to the Board and attendees.
JAGS Three students from the JAG program did a presentation for the Board and attendees on their senior project on public speaking.
MINUTES On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the March 17, 2016 meeting, public session. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, March 28, 2016 and April 4, 2016 for the amounts of $1,545.23 and $286,604.45. Nicole Plourde questioned the purchase of classic movies. She was informed they will be used for the Classic Film Studies course that will be offered during the next school year. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report
COMMENTS Tim Forestall commented on how the students in Destination Imagination and JAGS have developed since they first entered the high school. Their personal development is just amazing.
BASKETBALL The Grade 3 & 4 Basketball Program issue has been tabled.
POLICY EBBC-RR On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to approve the second reading of Policy, EBBC-RR – Emergency Medications Guidelines. The motion passed unanimously.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board on the following issues:
- Student Recognition
- The new District Mission and Vision Statement
COMMENTS None
MEMBER BUSINESS Nicole Plourde commended all the students on their recognition.
Corinne Cascadden informed the Board that NH Public Radio is preparing a story on the successes in all schools and that she would let the Board know the Broadcast date.
NON-PUBLIC On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:55 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 8:52 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session
STAFFING On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:

The motion passed unanimously
RENEWALS On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the staff renominations as presented. The motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURN On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 8:55 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.

NONPUBLIC SESSIONS

On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:55 pm in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), and (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
The Board discussed staffing.
The Board reviewed the list of known vacancies for the 2016-2017 School Year.
The Board discussed staff recommended for improvement plans.
The Board reviewed teacher renominations.
On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Scott Losier, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 8:52 pm in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), and (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
