School Board Minutes 10/01/2015

                                                                                October 1, 2015
                        
                        A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library following a joint meeting with Milan and Dummer. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Denise Valerino, Lynn Moore, Louise Valliere, Donald Labrecque, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Julie King, Tim Forestall, Dan Record, Kevin Carpenter, Roland Pinette, Robert Thompson, Autie Hamilton, and a member of the press.

MINUTES         On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the September 17, 2015 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.

WARRANTS                On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, September 28, October 5, and October 6, 2015 for the amounts of $1,203.73, $92,619.04 and $41,128.00 respectively. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

FINACIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.

COMMENTS                Kirsten Lukasak, from the Berlin Daily Sun, inquired how the District was going to follow through with the parenting plan. The Superintendent informed her that they would question the parents and handle each case as they come up.

JOINT LOSS MANUAL       On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the Joint Loss Prevention Manual as presented. The motion passed unanimously.
        
COMMENTS                None

MEMBER BUSINESS Nicole Plourde commented that she was very excited about homecoming.
                                                                                
NON PUBLIC              On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:50 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

                        On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:20 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session

STAFFING                On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes and to amend wage schedule for ESOL position

Dana DeBlois – Hillside Athletic Director.

                        The motion passed unanimously.

                        All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a background check.

ADJOURN         On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:30 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.

MINUTES
BERLIN BOARD of EDUCATION
NONPUBLIC SESSION
October 1, 2015


On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:50 pm in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), and (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.


The Board discussed staffing.

The Board discussed the wage and benefit package for the ESOL teacher position and the special needs requirements for a new student at Brown School in relation to a new staffing position that would not exceed 5.75 hours per day.


On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:20 p.m.~  The motion passed unanimously.~
