A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Denise Valerino, Lynn Moore, Louise Valliere, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Tim Forestall, Dan Record, Martha Miller, Autie Hamilton, Kevin Carpenter, parents, and students.
MINUTES On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the June 8, 2015 meeting public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated, June 22, 2015 for the amount of $469,558.13. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the Financial Report.
COMMENTS Paula Landers and Crystal Arsenault spoke to the Board regarding the punishment their children received regarding a behavior issue. They felt the situation was not handled in a fair and consistent manner.
POLICY JLCF On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino the Board voted to approve the revisions to Policy JLCF – Wellness Policy as presented. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
MILAN BOARD The Board agreed to meet with the Milan Board of Education on Thursday, August 20, 2015 prior to their regularly scheduled meeting.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship Award given to Sandy Pouliot
- Reading Plus Program
- Summer Professional Development
- Last Board meeting of the fiscal year on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 7:15 a.m.
COMMENTS None
MEMBER BUSINESS Denise Valerino requested that Craig Melanson attend the next Board meeting to review rules and parental notification regarding the discipline of student athletes. The Board reviewed the scheduled meeting dates and selected July 23, 2015 as the next School Board meeting date. The discipline issue will be discussed at that time.
The Board recognized the retiring staff members.
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:30 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:07 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:
Resignation:
Heather Piche – English Teacher – BHS
Nomination:
Erin Crosby – Art Teacher - BMS
The motion passed unanimously.
All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a background check.
BESS On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to accept a one year BESS
Contract Agreement as proposed. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
ADJOURN On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:10 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.

On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:30 pm in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), and (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
The Board discussed a discipline issue.
The Board discussed staffing.
On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:07 p.m.~ The motion passed unanimously.~
