INDIVIDUAL SPORTS       Craig Melanson fielded questions from the Board regarding individual sports sanctioned by the District. He reported that this was the first time he had been asked about individual sports. He also reviewed the training and courses that coaches must take. He also raised the issue of the cost of registration and liability. Concern was raised on how the district can ensure that all students have access to these sports, and who would pay any costs incurred. We have to look at all of these issues and how they relate to our policies.
Nicole Plourde felt that this conversation should just end and that it should be something that we work out together.
Donald Labrecque requested this issue be looked into only if it had the support of the administration.
Gary Bisson felt that responsible schools need to make sure that all of the documentation is complete and that liability is always an issue.

POLICIES AC & GBA       On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the revision of polices AC – Non-Discrimination, and GBA – Equal Opportunity Employment. The motion passed unanimously.

SUPER’S REPORT        The Superintendent informed the Board of the following:
  • Joint Annual Milan, Dummer and Berlin Meeting will be held on November 4, 2014 at the Milan Village School at 6:30 p.m.
  • Foreign Language trip to Puerto Rico. Lynn Moore inquired how many students they need to make the trip possible.

  • Since 2010 the District has met all the requirements of IDEA.
