A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Louise Valliere, Donald Labrecque, Denise Valerino, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Georgia Caron, Dan Record, Tim Forestall, Gary Bisson, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Julie King, Robert and Erin Malloy, and Adrienne Backer.
MINUTES On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the April 2 and April 21, 2014 meetings, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated, May 5, 2014 for the amount of $130,603.25. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report. The administration will be requesting the use of the remaining Capital Improvement monies to purchase a second minivan.

SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- Reading Plus
- Skills USA Competition
- Nutrition Guidelines
- Delayed Entry and Early Release at BHS
- BHS Art Show
- HOSA – Students qualifying to attend Nationals
COMMENTS None
MEMBER BUSINESS Nicole Plourde asked why students were notified that personal devices were no longer allowed at BHS. Gary Bisson will justify why there is a hold on authorizing BYOD at the May 15, 2014 meeting.
Nicole Plourde also wanted to clarify that the School Board has no intention of cutting the music program.
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:42 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 9:15 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session
STAFFING On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:
Resignations:
Vanessa Kenison – Program Aide – Brown School
Melanie Mallett – Individual Aide – Hillside School
Hannah Dean – English Teacher – Berlin Middle School
Nominations:
Anne Dignard – BMS Track & Field Coach
Michael Poulin – Girls Varsity Soccer Coach – BHS
Teacher Nominations:
Kelly Judson – Special Education Teacher
The motion passed unanimously.
NON UNION SALARIES On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the non-union salaries as presented. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
MANIFEST HARDSHIP On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to deny the request of Manifest of Educational Hardship to the child for the current school assignment. All members voted in the affirmative.
BESS No action was taken on the BESS Tentative Agreement.
ADJOURN On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 9:25 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
