A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Lynn Moore, Donald Labrecque, Kenneth Proulx, Louise Valliere, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Julie King, Tim Forestall, Gary Bisson, Dan Record, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Denise Valerino, Autie Hamilton, and a member of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the January 2, 2014 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, January 13, 2014 and January 20, 2014 for the amounts of $14,147.49 and $371,584.13. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.
COMMENTS None
ELECTRONIC DEVICE On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the second reading of Policy IJ-R, Electronic Device Policy. The motion passed unanimously.
POLICY JLCC The Board reviewed the amendments to Policy JLCC – Communicable Diseases. A revised policy will be presented at the next Board meeting.
FY15 BUDGET The Board approved the format that will be used to present the FY 15 Budget at the February 6, 2014 Public Hearing.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences
- School Fundraisers
- AREA Agreement
- Granite United Way Contributions
- NH DARE Officer of the Year
COMMENTS None
MEMBER BUSINESS The Superintendent thanked Kenneth Proulx for his service and dedication. We have enjoyed having him as a Board member. Nicole Plourde presented him with a plaque in appreciation for his dedication.
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:54 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:35 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session
STAFFING None
ADJOURN On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:37 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
