A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Kenneth Proulx, Donald Labrecque, Lynn Moore, Louise Valliere, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Sylvia Poulin, Angela Duquette, and member of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the May 31, and June 6, 2013 meetings, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, June 12, 2013 and June 24, 2013 for the amounts of $2,336.64 and $341,114.22. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.
COMMENTS Sylvia Poulin, representative of the Main Street Program, informed the Board that they would like to feature Brown School on their Christmas ornament in recognition of the school’s 100th anniversary. If the school sells the ornaments, the Main Street Program will donate $1.00 per ornament sold to the school.
CONTRACTS Each Board member signed the approved Local 1444 and BEA contracts.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
• Local Teacher Recognition
• Teacher Training Grants
• Healthy School Food Champions Award
• Title I Update
COMMENTS None
NEW BUSINESS None
NON PUBLIC The Board consensus was not to go into nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the following staff changes:
RESIGNATIONS:
Karen Paul – Educational Assistant – Hillside School
Marcy Heinemann – Educational Assistant – Brown School
NOMINATIONS:
Donald Picard – Math Department Head – BHS
Katherine Demers – School Nurse – BMS (Full-time)
Richelle Greer – School Nurse – BMS (Part-time)
The motion passed unanimously.
All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a background check.
ADJOURN On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:17 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
