School Board Minutes 10/22/2012

                                                                                October 22, 2012
                        
                        A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Office of the Superintendent beginning at 12:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Louise Valliere, Nathan Morin, Nicole Plourde, Donald Labrecque, Corinne Cascadden, and Bryan Lamirande.

MINUTES         On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the October 4, 2012 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.

WARRANTS                On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, October 15, and October 22, 2012 for the amounts of $5,713.02, and $117,927.60. Discussion ensued regarding the cost of transporting a student to White Mountain Regional. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

FINANCIAL REPORT        None

COMMENTS                None

TUITION RATES           On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the following tuition rates for the 2013-2014 school year:
                                        Elementary -     $12,927
                                        Middle School - $13,140
                                        High School -    $15,173
                        On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

1st RDG POLICIES        On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the first reading of Policy – ILBAA – High School Competency Assessments. The motion passed unanimously.

2nd RDG POLICIES        On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the second reading of Policies IJL – Library Materials Selection and Adoption, and IKG – Awards and Scholarships. The motion passed unanimously.

COMMENTS                None
                        
NEW BUSINESS            Discussion ensued regarding the upcoming BEA negotiating committee members.
                         Louise Valliere was appointed as the Board representative for the District Wellness Committee.
                        Donald Labrecque inquired about student mobile device management.       
                        
NON PUBLIC              The Board agreed there was no need for a nonpublic session.

                        After some discussion the Board approved the hiring of a potential sub.
                                
                        The motion passed unanimously.

                        All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a background check.

ADJOURN         On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 12:40 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
