A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were, Nicole Plourde, Karin Dorval, Louise Valliere, Kenneth Proulx,Nathan Morin, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Dan Record, Bev Dupont, Gary Bisson, Tim Forestall, Jane Provencher, Amy Huter, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Ted Pacheco, Nancy Forestall, Yvonne Jenkins, Dolores Charest, Michelle Figella, Danielle Demers, Sonya Dube, Amy Blanchette, Allan Wheeler, Dennis Carrier, Matthew Lambert, and members of the press.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- Review of CTE Program at Berlin High School
- Library Media upgraded technology
- New Courses being offered at Berlin High School
- Boys Basketball 1st place standing in the State
- Community Forums Update
MINUTES On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to approve the minutes of
the February 16, 2012 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, February 27, and March 5, 2012 for the amounts of $4,189.66 and $319,236.60. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

COMMENTS None
BOARD GOALS On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to have the Berlin Board of Education Goals remain the same with the exception of changing them to a two year period 2011-2013. The motion passed unanimously.
On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to approve the measure for Criteria for Success to be all the assessments in the data warehouse, Performance Plus. The motion passed unanimously.
On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to add bus replacements, a BHS access road, and to eliminate the completed action plans under Facilities. The motion passed unanimously.
On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to add the One Call Now automated parent contact system and to update the school emergency flip charts as part of their action plan under Safety. The motion passed unanimously.
FY 13 BUDGET The Board discussed the increase in the FY13 Budget request to include five additional teachers in the middle school grades in anticipation of enrollment increases due to relocation of Federal Bureau Prison families. On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to request $17,190,200 for their FY 13 Budget. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
COMMENTS Roland Pinette recommended that the administration not use lack of classroom space as the reason for the request for more money.
NEW BUSINESS Kenneth Proulx felt the mayor’s comment regarding the good old boys in the High School Athletic Department was in poor taste.
STAFFING On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to accept the following staffing changes:

The motion passed unanimously.
All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a criminal record check.
ADJOURN On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 8:25 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
