A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were, Nicole Plourde, Karin Dorval, Louise Valliere, Kenneth Proulx, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Dan Record, Bev Dupont, Gary Bisson, Tim Forestall, Georgia Caron, Jane Provencher, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Richard Girard, Autie Hamilton, Lisa Lavigne, Amy Drapeau, Colleen Poulin, Jessica Glover, Valerie V-Locke, Lise Barrette, Karen Saucier, Ann Nolin, Angela Duquette, Pam Couture, Jean Bouchard, Joanne Murphy, Meg Valliere, O’Brien Murphy, AnnElise Record, Kristine Roberge, Alaina Setz, Yvonne Jenkins, Barbara Demers, Christine Lindsey, Jessica Henderson, Ann Marie R-Labonte, Lucille Lambert, Nancy DeCourcey, Roland Simard, Pamela Carrier, Kara Arsenault,

MINUTES On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to approve the minutes of
the February 2, 2012 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, February 13, and February 20, 2012 for the amounts of $14,506.08 and $110,032.83. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.

2nd RDG I POLICIES On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to approve the second reading of I Policies, IHBA – Programs for Students with Disabilities, IHBAA – Evaluation Requirements for Children with Disabilities, IMG – Animals in the School, and IMGA – Service Animals. The motion passed unanimously.
EDUC ASST On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to table until the next meeting, the updated version of the Educational Assistant Job Description. The motion passed unanimously.
BOILER TECH On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the job description for a District Boiler Heating Technician / Custodian. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
BOARD GOALS On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to table the Board Goals. The motion passed unanimously.
BJHS TEAMING The BJHS Teaming Model was presented by teachers with a request for five additional teachers to reduce the class size with the potential of additional incoming students.
BJHS NAME CHANGE On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve changing the name of Berlin Junior High School to Berlin Middle School. The motion passed unanimously.
BOARD SCHOLARSHIP On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to accept the revision to the Berlin Board of Education Scholarship Application. The motion passed unanimously.
FY 13 BUDGET The Board will have more discussion before determining the budget figure it will present to the City Council.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- Youth & Government
- Community Forum Committee
- Berlin Title I Program
- NHIAA Scholarship Award Recipient
- Math Counts
- City Budget Schedule FY13

NEW BUSINESS None
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Karin Dorval,, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 7:44 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 9:06 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to accept the following staffing changes:
RESIGNATIONS;
Nicole Dumont – Educational Assistant – Brown School
NOMINATIONS:
Roland Poirier – Varsity Softball Coach – BHS
Daniel Record – Interim Principal – Berlin Junior High School
The motion passed unanimously.
All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a criminal record check.
ADJOURN On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 9:15 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
