School Board Minutes 11/3/2011
November 3 , 2011

                                
                        A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were, Nicole Plourde, Karin Dorval, Nathan Morin, Linda Pivin, Martha Laflamme, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Beverly Dupont, Dan Record, Tim Forestall, Amy Huter, Gary Bisson, Georgia Caron, Jane Provencher, Bailey Rigg, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Linda Rich, Amber Rich, David Rich, Robert Rodrigue, and students.

MINUTES         On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to approve the minutes of  
                        the October 20, 2011, public and nonpublic sessions.    

WARRANTS                On a motion by Linda Pivin, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, October 25, November 6 ,and November 7, 2011 for the amounts of $3,869.49, $6,187.76 and $300,555.05 respectively. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative with Martha Laflamme abstaining.

FINANCIAL REPORT        The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.

COMMENTS                None.

1ST RDG G POLICIES      On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to approved the first reading of policies – GBGA – Staff Health, GBGAA – HIV/AIDS, GBJA – HIPAA, GCA – Professional Staff Positions, GCAA – Highly Qualified Teachers, GCK – Professional Staff Assignments, GCO – Evaluation of Professional Staff, GCR – Non School Employment by Professional Staff as amended. The motion passed unanimously.

COMMUNITY FORUM The Superintendent gave the Board a summary of the Community Forums held on school regionalization.

SUPER’S REPORT  The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
  • Capital Improvement Plan – 2013-2018
  • Wellness Committee
  • National School Lunch Program On-site Review
  • Parent Involvement Survey Results
  • Joint meeting with Milan and Dummer on November 17th at 6:00 p.m.
COMMENTS                None

NEW BUSINESS    None
                        
NON PUBLIC              On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Linda Pivin, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:33 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

                        On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Nicole Plourde, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 8:54 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.

STAFFING                On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Linda Pivin, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:

                        The motion passed unanimously.
                                                                        
ADJOURN         On a motion by Linda Pivin, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 8:57 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
