PUBLIC HEARING The public hearing for the proposed 2011-2012 school budget was held at 6:15 p.m. in the Berlin High
School library. The School Board Chair reviewed data contained in the budget booklet highlighting
certain pages including enrollment, minimum standards, the reasons for increase in the general fund
request, local tax revenue , and special education, including out of district costs. Questions and comments from the audience included:
- Increases in Fringe Benefits
- Out of District Costs
- Enrollment
- Clarification of Budget Request
- Capital Improvements
- Consolidating Level I Language Classes to offer Level IV
- Ramifications of Budget Cuts
The Hearing closed at 7:05 p.m.
A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 7:05p.m. Present for the meeting were, Nicole Plourde, Karin Dorval, Martha Laflamme, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Gary Bisson, Tim Forestall, Amy Huter, Georgia Caron, Roland Pinette, Councilor Tom McCue, students, parents, community members, and members of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the January 19, 2011 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, January 31, 2011 and February 7, 2011 for the amounts of $4,200.68, and $280,792.63 respectively. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
COMMENTS None
1st RDGS E POLICIES On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to approve as amended the first reading of E Policies- EEAE- School Bus Safety Program, EEAEC – Student Conduct on Buses, EEAEC-R – Student Conduct on School Buses, EEAF – Special Use of School Buses. The motion passed unanimously.
FY 12 BUDGET On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to approve the FY School Budget at $16,744,988. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

NEW BUSINESS None
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 7:30 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Karin Dorval, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 8:16 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. One additional vote was taken in nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:
RESIGNATIONS;
Melinda Reed – Bus Driver – District
Linda Nadeau – Head Cook- Hillside-BJHS
The motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURN On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Karin Dorval, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 8:25 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
