A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were, Nicole Plourde, Nathan Morin, Mitch Couture, Brian Leclerc, Martha Laflamme, Corinne Cascadden, Marion Huntley, Beverly Dupont, Dan Record, Amy Huter, Tim Forestall, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Georgia Caron, Ken Proulx, Jane Provencher, Kaylyn Lam, Ann Lam, and members of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the October 21, 2009 meeting public and non public sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated November 9, 2009 for the amount of $218,761.54. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed the Financial Report. Questions on custodian overtime were answered.
COMMENTS None
FY 11 CALENDAR On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Nicole Plourde, the Board voted to approve the 2010-2011 school year calendar as presented in the packet. Martha Laflamme mentioned that she was not looking to make any changes but she would like to see Veteran’s Day not made into a long weekend. She feels it takes away from the meaning of the holiday. The motion passed unanimously.
2nd READINGS On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board approved the Second Reading of Policies AC and AC-R – Non Discrimination, and ACE- Disability Non-Discrimination. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was then made by Nathan Morin, seconded by Martha Laflamme to table the approval of Policy IGBA- F - Home Schooling. The motion passed unanimously.
SUPER REPORT The Superintendent gave the Board an update on the following issues:
Men’s Basketball Program Response
Building Safety Communication
H1N1 Update
Stimulus Funds (ARRA)
After School Program Achievements
The option of changing the time of the December 2nd Board meeting; the Board decided not to do so.
The January School Board meetings will be changed to January 13th and 27th rather than January 6th and 20th. The Board agreed to the change. They also would like to invite the new School Board members to join them for the January 13th meeting and to have the budget presentation at this meeting.

NEW BUSINESS Brian Leclerc thanked Mrs. Cascadden for the clarification of procedures regarding the men’s basketball program. The Superintendent is working on obtaining a grant for a new sign or blinking yellow light stating “School Zone” through Routes to School and/or the city safety committee.
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Martha Laflamme, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:40 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II,(b), On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Brian Leclerc, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:25 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Nicole Plourde, the Board voted to accept the following staffing changes:

ADJOURN On a motion Martha Laflamme, seconded by Nicole Plourde, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7::28 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
