A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education and the Gorham Randolph Shelburne Cooperative School Board was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 5:30 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nathan Morin, Mitch Couture, Nicole Plourde, John Moulis, Marion Y. Huntley, Steve Michaud, Corinne Cascadden, Beverly Dupont, Dan Record, Gary Bisson, Tim Forestall, Ken Proulx, John Donaldson, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Jane Provencher, Paul Partenope, Reed Leiberman, Jean Tremblay, Joanne Carpenter, Pauline Plourde, Paul Bousquet, Kathleen Kelley, Angela Brown, Donna Goodrich, Richard Lafleur, Jay Holmes, Michele Cormier, Mayor Danderson,
and members of the press.
INTRODUCTIONS After each Board member introduced themselves, Joanne Carpenter commented on how she was pleased to be at this meeting and that the two Boards should meet more often. She feels they have lots in common regarding the challenges to provide what is best for our children.
DISCUSSION The following issues were brought up for discussion:
o Having a common calendar for the next school except for two days makes an excellent opportunity for the staff to work together. We should pool resources to help with inservice areas as well as other areas.
o CTE Programs and the renovation project
o Building Issues
o What does Berlin Public Schools want to see 5-10-15 years down the road
o Do we go leaps and bounds or a slower joint cooperation
o Work on not duplicating services
o Have one Superintendent for both SAU’s as a start
o Athletics
o Meeting once a year at a minimum
o The possibility of meeting again in the Spring at the GRS Cooperative Building

A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 7:21 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nathan Morin,NameMitch Couture, Nicole Plourde, John Moulis, Marion Y. Huntley, John Donaldson, Ken Proulx, Steve Michaud, Corinne Cascadden, Beverly Dupont, Dan Record, Gary Bisson, Tim Forestall, Jane Provencher, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, and members of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the February 21, 2007 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS A motion was made by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Nathan Morin, to approve the warrants dated February 26, and March 12, 2007 for the amounts of $3085.48 and $291,578.87 respectively. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
COMMENTS None
GIRLS HOCKEY This item was postponed to a future meeting.
STUDENT CONDUCT On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to postpone this issue to a meeting when all Board members are present. The motion passed unanimously.
SUPER REPORT The Superintendent gave the Board NHSBA policy updates for required policies. These policies will be presented for readings at future meetings.
The Superintendent informed the Board that he has requested a waiver from the Commissioner of the NH Department of Education for the February 15, 2007 snow day. He is awaiting a response to this request.
COMMENTS None .
NEW BUSINESS Nicole Plourde requested the status of the new evaluation forms. The Superintendent will get these forms to the Board.
Nicole Plourde also asked the status of the WAIT Program monies at the Junior High School. She was informed that Mrs. Dupont was working on it with the Berlin High School.
Mitch Couture thanked everyone for coming to the previous meeting between the Gorham Randolph Shelburne Cooperative School Board and the Berlin Board of Education.
ADJOURN On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Nicole Plourde, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:27 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
