AVON TOWN COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
May 27, 2014
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. at the Avon Town Hall, in the Selectmen’s Chamber by Chairman Zacchio. Members present: Mrs. Maguire and Messrs: Pena, Evans, and Stokesbury.
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairman Zacchio.
III. EXECUTIVE SESSION: Interviews for RFP – Legal Services
On a motion made by Mr. Evans, seconded by Mr. Stokesbury, it was voted:
RESOLVED: That the Town Council go into Executive Session at 6:04 p.m. for the purpose of interviewing candidates for the position of Town Attorney.
Mrs. Maguire, Messrs: Zacchio, Pena, Evans, and Stokesbury voted in favor.
Peggy Roell, Chairman of the Board of Education, and Gary Mala, Superintendent of Schools were invited into Executive Session. The Town Manager also attended the session.
The Town Council conducted interviews with the following law firms:
6:10 P.M. – Kenneth Slate – Halloran & Sage
6:45 P.M. – Ira Bloom – Berchem, Moses, & Devlin
7:25 P.M. – Al Smith – Murtha Cullina
On a motion made by Mr. Pena, seconded by Mrs. Maguire, it was voted:
RESOLVED: That the Town Council come out of Executive Session at 8:45 p.m.
Mrs. Maguire, Messrs: Zacchio, Pena, Evans, and Stokesbury voted in favor.
IV. ADJOURN
On a motion made by Mr. Evans, seconded by Mr. Stokesbury, it was voted:
RESOLVED: That the Town Council adjourn the meeting at 8:46 p.m.
Mrs. Maguire, Messrs: Zacchio, Pena, Evans, and Stokesbury voted in favor.
