MEETING MINUTES
MAY 17, 2004
I. CALL TO ORDER
A Special Meeting of the Avon Town Council was called to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Avon Town Hall - Lounge Room by Chairman Hines. Members present: Mrs. Hornaday, Messrs: Carlson, Shea and Woodford.
II OLD BUSINESS
03/04/-03 FY 04/05 Budget: Board of Finance, Town Council, Board of Education Workshops: Discussion on Adjustments
The Council left the Board of Finance Meeting to make the requested reduction of $42,000. as requested by the Board of Finance.
On a motion made by Mr. Woodford, seconded by Mr. Shea, it was voted:
RESOLVED: That the Town Council approve the following reduction of $42,000. as follows:
Capitol Improvements - Bridge $15,000.
Roads $10,000
Town Hall Bld.$17,000.
Total $42,000
Mrs. Hornaday and Messrs: Hines, Carolson , Shea and Wo0dford voted in favor.
II OTHER BUSINESS
03/04-68 Bid Results: Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance
The Town Manager reported that our Town’s Health & Welfare Consultant after a comprehensive bid for the Town’s Health and related polices and review of all RFP responses has recommended that the Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance be awarded to AIG..
The annual savings of the Life/AD&D product is $4808, and LTD product is $39,675. Because the provider’s bid is based on combining the Town employees and the Board of Education employees the savings allocation is estimated to be $12,455 for the Town and $32,028 for the Board of Education.
On a motion made by Mr. Shea, seconded by Mr. Carlson, it was voted:
RESOLVED: That the Town Council award the Bid for Life/AD&D and LTD to AIF
