Regarding Household Hazardous Waste

The Town of Avon would like all residents to be aware of the following information:
As a cost saving measure, the Towns of Avon, Canton, Granby and Simsbury will no longer contract with the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection. The Towns are in the process of securing a vendor to manage the Farmington Valley Collection moving forward.
It is anticipated that the next Collection for residents of the four Towns will be in August 2013. The Collection site will be centrally located in Simsbury, most likely at the DPW Facility located at 66 Town Forest Road. Beginning in 2014, it is anticipated that Collections will be scheduled semi-annually, in the spring and early fall.
Please note that residents will no longer be permitted to dispose of household hazardous waste at MDC collection sites. Disposal information will be made available to Avon residents as soon as possible.
