Avon, CT. The Town of Avon has made digital mapping information available to the public through their GIS website, Community Explorer Online (CEO for short).  The site, which allows the public to view a variety of layers of map data, also provides a direct link to Assessor’s information using a mapping interface.  Users can search for properties by owner name, address, or Assessor’s parcel identifier; zoom to addresses, and print maps.  They can also select numerous parcels and produce mailing labels for the selected parcels.  Map and list output can be directly to the User’s printer or can be saved to the User’s computer as Adobe PDF files.

Included with the site is a downloadable User’s Guide that describes in detail each function: what it is for, and how it works so that users can become productive very quickly.
Mapping layers currently available with the site include:
  • 2004 and 2009 aerial photographs
  • 1984 topography
  • Zoning
  • Property (parcels)
  • Road names and edges
  • Water bodies
  • Buildings
  • Places of interest (such as Town-owned facilities, golf courses and trails)
Other functions of the site include:
  • Get latitude and longitude coordinates throughout Town
Perform simple on-screen markup for customized printed maps
Zoom to pre-determined Places of Interest
Measure distances and areas
Identify property owners
Print scaled maps
Etc.

A link has been developed so that Users can access the map site directly from the Town of Avon homepage – simply click on the GIS Mapping graphic above the Town Seal.
