Auburn Human Rights Commission - Director’s Report
January Meeting 2005
Approve/second last month’s minutes by: van der werff/DeCaro
Members discuss the following:
Monthly intake for December (22) consisted of questions and/or complaints dealing with housing matters (landlord and tenant, repairs) with a major focus on evictions during the month of December. Also noted were requests for information on legal needs, complaint on police, and general questions concerning issues pertaining to human rights.
Monthly Budget: Members please see monthly activity report attached.
Update: Please note line appropriation .44 on the monthly printed report there is a credit of $558.00 due to an Accounting error.
Also note: 2005-2006 Budget Worksheets have been distributed to all departments. Our first Human Rights Budget meeting with the City Manager is scheduled for Tuesday, January 25 at 10:00 am. Preparations are underway with the continued request for funds to expand the office with one more employment position.
The “holiday appeal” for Human Rights Scholarship donations began in October with printed materials mailed to service organizations and general business contacts. A small percentage has responded to the general mailings. At the same time, more individuals have responded and seem to take a greater interest in our fundraiser raffle. This places our efforts near the halfway point.
Attended Homsite housing meeting. Meeting was concerned with current housing projects, funding, budget, and employment.
