Meeting minutes from April 23, 2002

Facilitator Barry Warren gave a summation of the March retreat. He said the Commission is poised to make a distinct change in the Auburn community, playing a leadership role. He warned members against getting bogged down with trivial matters, and to stay focused on our mission. B. Warren continued that by developing annual work plans the Commission

I. Approval of the Minutes
The Commission did not meet in March, so there were no minutes to approve.
Committee Reports
II. Resource & Development Committee
Eileen McHugh circulated the minutes from the last Resource & Development meeting, in D. Lamb
III. Marketing Committee
J. Kline passed out copies of the draft of the Commission 2002-2003 budget that was submitted to the City Manager. The requested amount is the same as last budget cycle, but some additional programs have been added such as workshops, “Passport to History” and “Common Thread.” The Commission will be making a presentation to City Council May 9 at 6PM, please attend.
J. Kline said they answered 85 inquiries during March, and 1,876 from April 1
IV. Events Committee
Nothing to report.
V. Other Business
M. Alberici circulated a sign-up sheet for those interested in serving on an ad-hoc prison museum committee. She will contact the Mayor for additional leads on other potential committee members. Danette Davis, from Seymour Library was interested in participating in the “Passport to History” program next year.
S. Craner of ADP said they are working on a new all-inclusive downtown brochure. It will be done at the beginning of May.
The Commission adjourned at 4:35PM.
The next Commission meeting is Tuesday, May 28th at 3:30PM,
third floor meeting room at City Hall.
This will be a vision session led by Mayor Melina Carnicelli, please attend.
