HISTORIC SITES COMMISSION
Meeting minutes from October 23, 2001.

I. Approval of the Minutes
E. McHugh made a motion to approve the September minutes, seconded by B. Lewis. All were in favor, and the motion carried.

Committee Reports
II. Planning & Development Committee
C. Mason excused, no report.

III. Nominating Committee
Commission members thought a teacher would make a nice at large member, particularly 4th grade. J. McCormick was going to contact someone she knew.

IV. Marketing Committee
J. Kline said the Tourism Office responded to 250 brochure inquiries since the September meeting, and the website had 489 new hits since the last report. Total number of hits for the website is 11,373. J. Kline said Coburn Design has completed some of the pending website updates. The Schweinfurth now has their own page, the map has been reconfigured to include them, and the “About Historic Sites” page is up.

J. Kline said, at the next Marketing meeting the committee will make recommendations for changes to the brochure. The new version will be finished in early spring. J. Kline encouraged anyone with changes to come to this meeting set for Friday, November 2ndth at 10AM at the Tourism Office.

V. Events Committee
Sate of the Sites invitations, created by the City, were circulated to Commission members for dispersement. Sites should make copies for their membership and Board mailings. J. d

VI. Other Business
M. Alberici and J. Kline have been heading up Holiday Traditions
M. Weitekamp said she has been working with limo companies to provide vehicles for Holiday Traditions at a discounted rate. She is also coordinating horse & buggy transportation, with the assistance of Norm Riley from the Agricultural Museum. T. Hussey is coordinating a downtown display of student artwork with Auburn High School teachers.

E. McHugh said she and C. Mason met with John Plume, regarding the “Passport to History” project. Reception was very positive. The time frame that was preferable was April 15th stereo.

E. McHugh said the Cayuga Museum will open a Vintage Quilt Show November 4th, and that next year during this time, the Tubman Home will display Underground Railroad quilts, and the Seward House will display Victorian quilts, in coordination with the Schweinfurth and the Museum.

M. Alberici said the Chapel is having an auction to raise money for the Tiffany window restoration project. It will be held Nov. 16th at 6PM. There will be food and wine, and lots of interesting items to bid on. They are doing both a silent and a live auction. Those interested in donating items should contact the Chapel. The Commission adjourned at 4:45PM.

The next Commission meeting will be held Tuesday, November 27th at 3:30PM, third floor meeting room at City Hall.
