Meeting Minutes
October 11, 2005

1. Meeting was opened at 7:00 p.m. in the 1st floor caucus room of Memorial City Hall
In attendance were members Christina Selvek, Betty Lewis, Jim Hutchinson, Mike Deming, Ellen Clark and Judith Bryant and staff members Mike Long and Alicia McKeen.
2. Approval of Minutes: Chair asks for a motion to approve the minutes of September 13, 2005. Motion made by Jim Hutchinson, seconded by Betty Lewis. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
Certificates of Appropriateness:
Jim Hutchinson makes a motion to approve Certificates of Appropriateness issued by staff. Motion seconded by Betty Lewis. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
Sally Price, 28 Grover St. – wants to install four replacement windows in the rear of the house with color to match existing trim.
Jim – replacement windows can be painted.
Sally Price – knows what should have been done 20 years ago but wasn’t, this will be better.
Jim – makes a motion to approve the changes, seconded by Betty.
Mike Long – suggests multi-pane window.
Sall Price – has not found a new window with panes that look o.k.
Jim – this is a single pane over a single pane? (yes)
All members vote approval of the motion. Motion carried.
Mike Long – distributes the project book report by Judy Wellman – “Uncovering Freedom Trail”
Application for National Register Historic Places – 29 Washington St. Hosmer House
Mike Deming – the applicant doesn’t explain why the house should be included.
Judith – you think each point should be explained?
Christina – that’s usually in the test.
Judith – also discussed in the summary. It’s up to this group to decide if it’s relevant.
Mike Long – would like to get more money to continue this while she’s in the process.
Christina – specifically concerning the reverend and the connection to a church in Auburn.
Judity – can also check other resources besides Judy Wellman.
Motion to submit application to the National Register for consideration made by Jim, seconded by Christina. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
Mike Long – want to send copies of Judy Wellman’s book to libraries.
Judith – find out first if and where she has sent any.
Mike Long – has a list of places it was sent. At the end of the month the CLG report is due. They want to know tally sheet concerning Certificates issued, new Board members, etc. Recently received another grant to do GIS project records retention program. Intern to do deed research on South St. and do a mosaic of historic maps. Had submitted to do all South St. – co-project with NASA, County and City. Hoping to hire Tanya Warren to do research as independent contractor.
New Board member to replace Sam Swan.
Mike Long suggests Jill Morgan, will speak with Larry Liberatore concerning.
Next meeting: November 8, 2005 at Memorial City Hall at 7:00 P.M. – 1st floor caucus room.
Motion to adjourn made by Jim Hutchinson, seconded by Ellen Clark. All members vote approval. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
