Auburn Economic Development Zone Board

Meeting was called to order by Tom Ganey at 8:05. Motion to accept October 9, 2003 meeting minutes made by Mike Trapani, seconded by Walt Dungey. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
Cindy Aikman speaks about the language of drawing boundaries for county wide zone. Currently 75:25 and proposed 60:40. Agriculture business opportunities. 4 sq mile regionally significant busineses. Aurelius businesses are still coming in. These certified businesses share benefits with the City.
The development policy 1st draft has been submitted for review. Baseline info is from Cayuga County Strategic Economic Development Plan for 2000. The stats are current tho.
Tom Ganey – agrees with City Manager concerning requirements that businesses keep taxes current for properties outside as well as inside the zone.
Judy Wright – wants to know if tax rule will be enforced by revoking benefits (yes).
Cindy Aikman – a purchase offer has been accepted on Nolan’s. Corrosion Control has begun hiring and will be up and running soon.
Arlene Ryan – questions the placement of the hotel at the mall.
Cindy Aikman – will be behind Aldi’s – the mall owns a lot of property in that area
Arlene Ryan – wants a building for performing arts.
A question is asked concerning Schine’s Theatre.
Cindy Aikman – it is an evolutionary process getting things done. Mike Long is still writing grants for it. They have reached the goal of tax credits for donations. Nancy Hussey continues as legal counsel. Furthe feasibility studies have been done.
The Development Policy will be presented in Syracuse on the 20th and finalized in March.
