Auburn City Council
Meeting #50
October 12, 2006
6:00PM  -

Roll Call – Councilor Graney, Councilors McNabb, Smith, Dempsey and Mayor Lattimore – Present.   

Staff Members Present – Mike Long Interim City Manager, Thomas Leone Corporation Counsel, Debra McCormick City Clerk, William Lupien, Engineering Superintendent,  Gerry DelFavero Public Works Supervisor.

All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.   

The Mayor asked for a moment of silence.   

Presentations and Proclamations –
James Morrissey, representing C & S Engineers presented an update on the status of the East Genesee St. Project.  He distributed a status report to Council, reviewed it and answered many questions from Council.

Mayor Lattimore reminded Council of the Sports Banquet that will be held this week honoring former City Councilor Ormie King.

Public Announcements  - The Clerk read.

Work Session –
Jerry DelFavero, Superintendent of Public Works reviewed procedures for leaf pick up and snow removal.  He also reviewed Recreation Department activities for the year including the 2006-07 ice-skating program at Casey Park.

Corporation Counsel Tom Leone presented suggested amendments for Council to consider amending the City’s land sale policy.  Council discussed.

Assistant Corporation Counsel Nancy Hussey presented Council with a report on the impact to the City if Council pursued retroactive application of Ordinance #14 of 2006 exempting two unit owner occupied dwelling units from the requirement of obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy.  Council discussed.

Public to be Heard

Earl Starring, 214 Woodlawn Ave. – Spoke about free speech, code violations, and the budget.

Mary Lou Picciano, Cayuga St., spoke about her issues with the Auburn Police Department.

Don DeGiovini, 12 Drummond St., spoke about the East Genesee St. reconstruction.  

Other Business

Mayor Lattimore acknowledged Jack Hardy, an Auburnian that lives in New Jersey.  Mr. Hardy owns a home on Chapman Ave and hopes to move back to Auburn when he retires.

Councilor Dempsey asked about construction on Augustus and Howard St.

Tom Leone asked if Council would send job requirements to him so that the advertisement for City Manager Candidates could be completed.

Councilor McNabb asked about the Connector Rd. status.

The clerk read the recap.

Council adjourned to Executive Session at 9:05 PM and returned at 10:15PM.
