Financial Review
Lisa Green, Comptroller, reviewed the Budget Summary and Forecast through January 31, 2006. Council discussed. Acting City Manager Tom Leone asked Council for direction on what they would like to see staff spend time on to address budget issues. Council discussed and recommended looking at all options and asked that all models be brought to Council for consideration.
Public to be Heard – Mayor Lattimore asked the Clerk to read the rules for the public to be heard portion of the meeting. The statement that she read reflected the rules as they are written in the Council Rules and Procedures.
Jerry Morgan, 22 Pulaski St., spoke to Council about his concerns regarding the Fire Departments rescue calls. He suggested the City ask for a surcharge tax from Rural Metro for rescue calls. He also spoke of his outrage at the recent assessment.
Rick Calavito, 9 North Marvine Ave., spoke about his assessments his neighbors. He stated that he and his neighbors are not happy with the increase.
Mary Lou Picciano, 32 Cayuga St. spoke to Council about her issues with the Police and her son.
Mike Villano, Washington St., spoke to Council about assessments and cutting expenses.
Other Business
Mr. Leone asked for Council consent to add item 10D to the agenda as an addendum. All agreed.
Council Resolution #27 of 2006 authorizing the City Manager to prepare and request proposals from qualified bidders for the fabrication and installation of a new scoreboard for Falcon Park. Vote: Councilor Graney, McNabb, Smith, Dempsey and Mayor Lattimore, aye. CARRIED.
Appointment Resolution #28 of 2006 appointing Council Member William Graney to the Board of Directors of the Auburn Community Non-Profit Baseball Association, Inc. Vote: Councilor Graney, abstained, Councilor McNabb, Smith, Dempsey and Mayor Lattimore, aye. CARRIED.
Appointment Resolution # 29 of 2006 appointing three individuals to the Auburn Industrial Development Authority. Vote: Councilor Graney, McNabb, Smith, Dempsey and Mayor Lattimore, aye. CARRIED.
Council reviewed a list of expense requests prepared by Lisa Green, Comptroller. The list included capital expenditures, purchases in excess of $3000, and travel and training expenses. Each item was vote on for approval or not. This list was attached to Council Resolution #30 of 2006.
Council Resolution # 30 of 2006 approving the expenditures presented for payment and authorizing the Comptroller to process the payment for same. Vote: Councilor Graney, McNabb, Smith, Dempsey and Mayor Lattimore, aye. CARRIED.
Chief Quill reported that the Fire Department would be doing training at Hoopes Park over the weekend.
Mayor Lattimore asked Corporation Counsel to present a resolution at next weeks meeting that would cut the Mayor and Council salary by 2%.
