Roll Call - Councilor Jacobs, McNabb Hunter, Dempsey and Mayor Carnicelli –
Present.

Presentations and Proclamations
Auburn’s Historic & Cultural Sites Commission – Mayor Carnicelli introduced Maxine Alberici Chairperson of the Commission. Ms. Alberici reviewed that packet that was distributed to Council.
Meg Vanek, Executive Director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism and commission member reviewed facts and statistics that were gathered during a marketing survey. She spoke of number of people visiting, demographics, dollars spent and impact.
Donna Lamb, Executive Director of the Schwienfurth Art Center and commission member talked about the impact that the commissions efforts have had on the number of visitors to the area. The commission provides marketing to a wide geographic area that sites like that museum would not alone be able to do.
Eileen McHugh, Director of the Cayuga Museum and commission member echoed Ms. Lamb’s comments and gave statistics to support the effectiveness of the commission’s efforts.
Peter Wisbey, Seward House echoed these comments and said that through this collaborative marketing the Seward House had its’ best year in 47.
Christine Carter, Harriet Tubman Home expressed appreciation for the efforts of the commission and talked about the positive impact on visitors to the home.
Councilor Dempsey thanked the commission and talked about the economic impact of tourism on Auburn. He asked all members of the Commission to stand and be recognized. Those in attendance that did not speak included Bob Cotter, Jesse Kline, Susan Marteney, and Joan McCormick.
Mayor Carnicelli thanked all.
WORK SESSION
Cayuga Coalition for Peace –
Gilda Brower representing the Cayuga Coalition for Peace addressed council to ask for their support by passing a resolution against the United States going to war with Iraq. Ms. Brower read a letter and submitted a draft resolution for council to consider.
Auburn Downtown Business Improvement District
Sandy Craner, Executive Director of the ADBID reviewed a packet of information that was giving to council. Councilor Jacobs a board member thanked the commission for their efforts.
Plumbing Board – Homeowners Test
Frank DeOrio, Director of Municipal Utilities and Plumbing Board Member and Brian Hicks Code Enforcement Officer discussed why they would like to amend the code to include a fee for homeowner plumbing permits.
First Read of Ordinances and Local Laws – None
Other Business
Council Resolution #48 of 2003 authorizing the Mayor to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Auburn Associates, LLC regarding the proposed realignment of McIntosh Drive Extension. Vote: Councilor Jacobs, McNabb, Hunter, Dempsey and Mayor Carnicelli vote aye. PASSED.
Public to be Heard
Sam Trinca, Oak Street – spoke to council about the impending war with Iraq and terrorism in this country.
Councilor Dempsey asked about the time it takes to do tax searches in the city.
